Last week, Derek took me on the most wonderful vacation that has ever been. He surprised me with a trip to California. We flew into LA and headed North, up the coast, on Highway 1.
It just might be the most beautiful road in America.
We were treated by range of weather along our trek. This particular morning started out grey and foggy. While usually, I’m more of a sunshine kind of gal, the fog was nice. It was like a blanket that wrapped us up on the start of our trip. Very side-of-the-sea.
Soon enough, though, the fog lifted to reveal the beautiful blue sky and dramatic cliffs that I had heard so much about. Not to be cliche, but standing on the edge was amazingly breathtaking.
As our drive continued, the sky grew more and more blue, and the scenery began rolling steadily by.
We were greeted by seals and breaking seas.
We explored Jade Cove. {Can you find Derek below?}
And Sand Dollar Beach. {But there were no Sand Dollars to be found}
We made our way {happily} towards this little town called Lucia.
This is what we found when we arrived. The most beautifully quaint group of cottages, and the best view on the West Coast.
We were really excited to see the sunset. We didn’t get to see it the night before because the fog rolled in just at the wrong time.
Perched on the top of a hill, over the ocean, we watched the sun slip into the ocean.
And then Derek gave me the brightest, bluest gift, and made me the happiest girl in the whole wide world. Honestly, I’m so very excited, and I have a feeling this little blog might become “Good Wedding, Austin” for the next couple of months. I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I do!
